Week 12 - Monday/ 1 month old

Not a lot going on with the house today.  Just the heating and ac guys were out today for about 1 hour - hope that means they are done.  The rain kept the bricklayers away but they were here Sunday working hard.  Waiting for the correct-size window for the master bedroom, glass blocks for the shower window and the front door to come in before they start insulating.  Brian, Darren and Allan wired up the house for speakers yesterday - so you can enjoy music almost anywhere in the house.

In other news, Audrey is 1 month old now.  She is filling out more and smiling more.  Still not sleeping for very long but eats great!  The ladies from the office threw her an awesome shower yesterday where she got some more great stuff!  Thanks girls :)

Rocking the 80's workout videa outfit.

Peaceful sleep - a rare occurence :)
And Stevens family lace up!  Only 8 weeks till the Warrior Dash, who will be eating my dust (mud)?

Week 11 - Thursday

More brick work today, they skipped the south wall and started around back.  The electrician was also out today and is finished until they get the drywall up.

Can and pendant lights planned for the kitchen.

Update on the garden.  Onions, carrots, spinach and lettuce look good.  Potatoes are starting to come up, one garlic stem.  The corn is looking pretty sickly and don't think it will survive.

Week 11 - Wednesday

Only the bricklayers were out today and they are really moving.  Hope we get some more workers out tomorrow.

My sleeping beauty.

Week 11 - Tuesday

Lots of workers out here today.  That's what I like to see.  The bricklayers have made more progress, the plumbers continued their work - including putting in the correct bathtub in the hall bath, the electrician planned for and installed the boxes for all the light and ceiling fixtures.  We  went around with the contractor to make sure things were right and make more decisions.  Having some concerns with the kitchen island, the contractor suggests it be smaller to allow for more room maneuvering between the work areas.  Plus the dog bath in the mudroom isn't going to work out- so we decided to move it into the garage.  He also wasn't planning for all the water sources in our shower like we wanted (we are splurging on that with the wall jets, adjustable height shower head plus rain shower head) so had to make sure he plumb that in.  And the concrete wasn't poured correctly to accommodate the masonry fireplace so there has been debate on what to do with that- contractor and bricklayer think they came up with a way to still do the full mason fireplace.
Good news is the finish date is back to mid-July!

More brick work, the bump outs will be stone.

Plumbing and electrical in the master bath.

Kitchen layout with the cabinets, island and lights.
Miss Audrey is doing great.  After the clouds and few minutes of rain cleared, it was a beautiful evening, so we went for a walk and she was looking around the whole time - she had enough after about 40 minutes.

Happy Birthday Will !!

Week 11 - Monday

Didn't get home in time to take pictures, so will get those tomorrow.  The brick layers were working hard again today.  They did some nice "coining" of the first corner that looks good.  The electrician also got started today and got about half-way done.

We spent a lot of time picking out our cabinets and countertops for the kitchen, baths and mud room today.  Also worked with the design of the kitchen cabinets and layout.  Then on to pick out the hardwood floors.  It felt like close to 1 million decisions to make- our heads were spinning.  I just hope it looks good when we bring it all together.

Audrey was a trooper and slept through most of the activities, so we expect she'll be up all night now :)

Week 10 - Sunday?

Despite a disappointing two-day work week this past week, the brick-man came through and started putting up brick Saturday and Sunday.  He got this part done today.  Looks good with the dark shingles.

3 weeks old!

Audrey is three weeks old now.  I can already tell how she is developing; her smiles seem more on demand now.  She is not a fan of tummy time, but caught her smiling before the protest.  Oh, and yes, we are posting at 4am :)

Feast or famine on the house.  They only work done today (yesterday) was the heating and cooling person was out planning for the vents - only here about 2 hours.

Brian, along with friends Steve and Sean, installed the new garage door on the third bay.  The ceiling was too low for a automatic opener, but we plan to use that area for the lawn mower anyway so that won't matter.  Just need to frame the one side and put siding up and it will look good as new!  Looks good!

Week 10 - Wednesday

Lots of work again today.  Shingles are all on, windows got delivered and installed (except one in bedroom, not sure why), garage and back doors installed, plumber did his thing, propane lines installed, outside hookups for water and propane done.  That includes a hook-up for the outside grill.  They did install the wrong tub fixture in the hall bath, so had to set them straight on that - good thing we inspect daily ;)
Oh, and the mustang rides again!  It got moved to the pole barn so the new garage door can go up tomorrow.

Week 10 - Tuesday

The wind has finally calmed down and the crew came to work today!  There were 6 guys here that worked for 11 hours.  Got the shingles on the whole front and part of the back.  The brick and mortar were delivered today also and should start going up later this week.

Audrey flexing her muscles.

Week 10 - Monday

No work on the house today; wind was too strong, I guess.  Actually had a set-back due to the wind, a lot of the felt paper blew off.  The shingles did get delivered.

Audrey put Dad to sleep.

Week 9 - Thursday

They finished working on the dormer today and did a lot of odds and end jobs that were on the "hanger" list (that's construction lingo).  We're told no one would be out working tomorrow :(  Must be saving there energy for a bright start Monday.

They also cleaned up the inside.
Audrey had her 2 week check-up today, still not to her birth weight, but doing fine otherwise.

Week 9 - Wednesday

They have finished putting the tar paper on the roof and got a good start on the dormer today.  Cabinet guy came and marked out where the kitchen and bath cabinets will go.

Oh, and here's a pic of my shy girl :)

Easter weekend

We got a visit from Brian's family on Saturday and cousins Dylan and Grace got to meet Audrey.  Sunday involved lunch with my side of the family.

Cousin Grace & Audrey

Cousin Emilee with Audrey

We have our first sprouts coming up in the garden!
No work on the house last Friday and only half-day today (forgot a tool they needed).  They finished the sheeting on the roof.  Sounds like things will really move next week with shingles, brick, windows and plumbing.  Somehow we have gotten behind (see first sentence?) and estimated finish date is closer to end of July now :(

Week 8 - Thursday

They continued working on the roof yesterday and today and are almost done.  This is the back corner of house, just a few gaps on the other side of this part of roof.

Audrey is doing great.  She got weighed again today and is up to 7lbs 2oz now- still not to birth weight, but on her way.  Grandma Ellen has been here helping out- fixing meals, cookies!, doing laundry.  We appreciate her help.  We went for our first walk yesterday and today she went to watch cousin Lucy play softball - didn't last too long as it was too cold!

Week 8 - Tuesday

They continued, and are almost done, working on the roof.  Had to bring in extra wood - apparently they had to use extra wood to brace things due to the wind.   Also put in the new utility pole behind the morton building and connected it to a new pole at the street.

Wires above ground from street and buried to the house.

New meter reading zero.

And another picture of our beautiful girl.
