Week 16 - Thursday

They were able to lay the wood flooring in the hallway and dining room.  Also got a lot of the tile up in the master shower.  Looks really cool!

Mom had a good day with Audrey.  So far she has done the laundry, made dinner past two nights, rearranged Audrey's clothes, recovered a bench, mended a pillow, working on recovering four chairs and played 267 games of Words with Friends.  I wonder how she'll keep busy tomorrow?

And we have another mouse.  It ate my apple which was in my lunch bag sitting on the counter.

Week 16 - Wednesday

Miss Audrey went to the doctor today for a 2 month check-up.  Which means she got her first set of shots :(  Three shots and one oral vaccine all together.  She only cried for a little while and then we put a boob in her mouth and that seemed to make things better :)

Seemed to be lots of work done on the house today judging by all the cars.  The bricklayer didn't get his shipment of bricks, but did get some more work done on the fireplace.  The electricians were here doing something? in the basement.  They started laying hardwood floors but didn't get far as they found they didn't have the right tools.  And tilework continued with tile going on the shower walls in the guest bath.  Looks good but since there is no light in there, I couldn't get a picture. 

We got a approximate date of completion of 6 weeks from now - middle of July?

Week 16 - Tuesday

More tile work today.  They put the grout in all the bathrooms and put the tile down in the mudroom.  The bricklayer was out again and used every last brick he had.  We are promised a delivery of more brick tomorrow so he can finish - finally.  They also put in the roof vent.  Our appliances were delivered, but have to hold them in the shed until they are ready to install.  The boxes look pretty...

First day back to work today.  I was so busy, I only got caught up thinking about Audrey a few times.  But everyone asked about her.  And I kept my pictures handy to show off.  Daddy enjoyed his day with Audrey; went into town, got some laundry done - maybe ready for full-time Mr. Mom?  My beautiful child slept 8 hours straight last night; it was like she knew I needed a good night's sleep. 

Memorial Day

We had a good weekend- despite the heat.  Went to Charlie's birthday party - jumped in the bouncy house and got in a few water fights.  Brought back yet another truck-load of furniture from Mom & Dad's basement.  I started call today and had one baby to see at the hospital this morning.  Brian's family came up to grill out and get a lesson in ping-pong by Brian and I (maybe it was home court advantage). 

I also discovered a silent roommate - almost stepped on a mouse that was trapped in the shower this morning.  My brave husband fished it out and set it free outside. 

I know Audrey will take after her mom and love watermelon!

Week 15 - Friday

They started laying tile today and got the floors done in all 3 bathrooms (minus the grout).  Also delivered the bamboo flooring - should be ready to go on Tuesday.

Molly is earning her keep by digging out the foundation of our next house.  Not sure what she is after but she is determined to get it - darn dog!

The subfloor for the tile went in today.  That's it.  I think they are afraid to work too fast ;)

Bricklayers back out today to continue work on the fireplace and added a few bricks to the garage side of the house.  The painters were here and are done (yes, done!) with the primer coat.  It looks great!  The tile was also delivered and will start to go in tomorrow.

We also got an interesting visitor today.  A fellow stopped by to ask if he could move our house.  What?!  He asked how much - we said we'll pay you!  No, just kidding.  He's going to see how hard it will be to move and let us know.  Wouldn't that be awesome!

Week 15 - Tuesday

Well we finally got some workers out here today.  The drywallers finished up their thing - the walls are ready for paint now.  The bricklayer showed up and continued work on the fireplace.  We are told that they are still waiting on a shipment of bricks - which have no known date of delivery.  That's it, but are told the tile and wood flooring will start to be installed this week!

It was a beautiful day today.  Brian and I played a rousing game of tennis.  Finished one set before the little one demanded our attention. 

Week 15 - Monday

Well the fireplace work seen below was what was done on Friday.  We think the contractor's workers were out today, but they were gone by the time we got up at 10am (jealous?).  They put up the garage to house door and framed for the overhead garage door.  Didn't see anyone else all day.  Think we are still waiting for the bricklayers to finish their job before they can move forward with anything else.

Brian got some things done this weekend and today.  He took down the two massive sliding doors that were on the third stall of the garage and put up framing and plywood, getting ready to put siding up.  He also installed our free pavers outside the pedestrian door to the garage.

We got rained out last night for the Cornbelters game, but glad to have the rain as it takes about 2 hours to water all the trees and plants we have planted on the property. 

I am still the ping-pong champion over Brian!  Too bad Tim was too scared to play me this weekend.

Week 14 - Friday

They were back at it today after their day off yesterday.  Mason man finished the stone on the other bump-out and did some work on the fireplace.  Drywallers also continued their tasks.  Sorry, no pictures today.  Everyone have a good weekend!

Week 14 - Thursday

It was a beautiful day to be building a house...too bad nobody showed up to do that.  Contractor and his guys were out today and put up the gutters.  Apparently everything is at a standstill now until the brick and stone is done-they were MIA today.  Also no drywallers to finish their job.  And when the contractor guys left, they told each other to have a nice weekend - so looks like they won't be back tomorrow.

Audrey is 7 weeks old today - I looked back on pictures of when she was born and can't believe how big she is now.  Still only 4 hours of sleep at night - one more week until it's Dad turn to get up with her at night :)

Week 14 - Wednesday

Drywalling continued and finished with putting it up, the other guys who did the mudding and taping got a large portion done.  Almost done with the stone on the other bump-out.  The gutters were delivered, but not installed.

Brian and I had our first evening out without our daughter tonight.  It went ok- we are now the parents that talk about our daughter the whole night :)  Nothing wrong with that. 

Week 14 - Tuesday

They finished putting stone on one of the bump-outs and started on the other.  They also got the stone ledges up on the front windows.  The drywallers continued their thing- got everything but the garage done.

We had our first taste of spinach from the garden tonight.  It tasted extra good since we knew it came from our own blood, sweat and tears.

Week 14 - Monday

As promised, they did start with the drywall this weekend, though no work on Sunday and they weren't finished by today.  But what they did get done looks good. 

Today they continued with the drywall and brick.  The mason also got started on the fireplace and the stone on the front bump-out.  It looks good, but will wait to post a photo.  We also got our furnace installed today and the siding is finished.

Week 13 - Friday

Brickwork continued today.  Finished putting siding up on the dormer.  The drywall got delivered today and we are told, but not promised, that they will be working all weekend and it will be done by day-end Monday.  ADT also came out and pre-wired for the alarm system. 

Miss Audrey is 6 weeks old now.  She is doing great.  Getting some meat on her now, which isn't a surprise as she eats all the time!  She will sleep about 4 hours straight at night.  I was hoping for a little longer by now, but she still has two weeks to get her act together (before I go back to work).  Smiling more and we get the most smiles when she is naked- seems she isn't a fan of diapers or clothes :)  She does really well riding in the car and seems to enjoy going for walks/jogs.  I fear she isn't going to like daycare as she wants to be held all the time!, but as Mom says, someday she won't want to be held- so I am savoring every moment.  Victor is still not a fan- but we are determined to wear him down- he can't resist her cuteness forever.

Week 13 - Thursday

Lots of workers here today.  Got the shipment of brick and stone so they continued with the brickwork.  Looks like they started and finished with the insulation, minus the attic.  And they got some of the siding done on the dormer and put some decorative wood pieces on it.

Week 13 - Wednesday

Nothing exciting to take pictures of today.  They were here continuing brickwork today until they really ran out of bricks.  That shipment of brick and stone that was supposed to be Monday, still isn't here.  Also continued putting up siding.  And they dropped off our new propane tank behind the Lester building.  Didn't see anything new on the inside. 

Week 13 - Tuesday

We got our front door and missing window installed.  Also started putting up the siding.  And they put up the framing for the pocket door into the master bath.

Week 13 - Monday

Only thing happening today at the job site is the delivery of the siding.  Hope tomorrow brings more workers.

We want to thank everyone for their help yesterday picking up some trees for our yard.  We got a couple planted before dark, others to be planted tomorrow.  Hope they make it.  Only 100 more needed!!

Audrey took a siesta Saturday; nobody can resist the hammock on a beautiful day. 

Audrey got weighed today and is a whooping 10lbs 1oz!  Quite the chunker :)

Week 12 - Friday

The bricklayers have been doing their thing, except they are almost out of brick, so getting another shipment of brick plus the stone on Monday.  They did some more prep work on the fireplace.  And the glass block window for the master shower is in place!

Week 12 - Wednesday

Bricklayers again out today.  Working on the south wall minus the area where the window will go.  Got a short thunderstorm and they even worked through that.  Love their work ethic.  We own them lunch though, as we found out Molly ate their package of buns last week :)

ADT alarm guy came out to pre-wire the house, but turns out you need doors in place to do that- whoops!  He'll come back later...

Week 12 - Tuesday

Rain, rain, go away. 

The bricklayers were out today but got turned away by the rain after about 1 hour.  Also had couple other workers for a short while, but don't know who or what they are.  Got an update from the contractor; we are about 1 week delayed now as we are waiting for the front door, one window and glass blocks for master shower to come in before they install them and at that point they can do the insullation and drywalling.  Apparently those items should be in next week.  So there won't be much work done the rest of this week.  We got the final plans for the cabinets and countertops and those should take about 4 weeks to make. 

In other news, I am the reigning ping-pong champion :)   We tried out our new ping-pong table.  I beat Brian but Molly was the real winner as she and Victor both loved chasing the balls, but she destroyed about 5 balls.  We quit while we still had a couple balls left.  We'll need to stock up.
