Week 20 - Friday

The painters did return and got all the beige walls painted - everything but master bed and bath, Audrey's room and dining room.  It looks really good!  They also stained the posts outside, but it was supposed to match the front door and as you can see it doesn't- we are looking into that.

Week 20 - Thursday

Finally got the painters out here today.  Looks like they painted all the trim and doors.  It looks really good!  Hope they are back again tomorrow.

Week 20 - Wednesday

No work on the house again today.  This is turning into a pretty boring blog...

Apparently everyone is waiting on the painters to finish and they are held up at another job.  The countertops are being made now and with any luck will go in end of next week.  The plumber won't come until the countertops are installed.  The electrician won't come until the painters are done.  And around and around we go :(  We were told it would be 3 weeks till move-in.  And were again warned that there likely won't be anyone working Wed, Thurs or Friday of next week...great.

Anyone else looking forward to 102 degrees tomorrow with only one window AC unit?

Tuesday

No work on the house today.  So frustrating...
Update on our garden.  The pumpkins are getting big, have about 4.  Two little watermelons.  Carrots look good.  Ate one of our onions.  Spinach is past its prime and lettuce is on its way out too.

It's round like me!

Week 20 - Monday

The trim-guy framed the posts, front and back, in cedar.  They look really nice.  They will be stained same as the front door.
And that's it...
Asked the contractor an estimated move-in date.  He said it may be around the time we go on vacation.  Also said there isn't much left to do.  Sooooo, why will it still take 4 weeks?  Oh, maybe its because they only do one thing a day.  (I do have another option for the Stevens vacation destination if Colorado continues to burn- Cropsey!  Everyone can help us move)
Our rain dances didn't work so we watered all the trees tonight (over 40) and discovered the dog fence was cut in several different spots and one tree perished from their moving dirt around for the final grade.

Week 19 - Friday

Well the promise of workers fell short.  All that was done today was the install of basement windows.

I can hold my head up now!

Week 19 - Thursday (aka day of rest)

No update for yesterday because nothing was done.  I don't just mean you wouldn't recognize what was done.  No one was here working!  We are assured people will be working today.  They better be...

Week 19 - Wednesday

Finished with the final grade and also got a top coat of gravel on the entire driveway.  Looks spiffy!
The electricians were back at it installing light fixtures and setting up outlets.
The painters were here doing prep work on all the trim and doors and also stained the front door its final color.

Looks good enough to move into

Week 19 - Tuesday

They started on the final grade today.  Smoothed out the piles of dirt and also trucked in some dirt from the far corner of the field.  Almost done with it.  Looks a lot different without the weeds around it.  The mason man finished up his work (so he thinks) with building the block wall in the basement for Brian's command center and finished the fireplace.  I think he needs to pressure wash the brick some more, but we'll worry about that later.  Trim work continued throughout the house

Brian took off his tinfoil hat for the picture.  Remind anyone of Silence of the Lambs?

Week 19 - Monday

Bricklayer was out this weekend working on the posts, front and back.  He also continued pressure washing the brick.  The cabinets continued to go in the bathrooms and mudroom plus the countertops.  The end upper cabinet in the kitchen is still not up as they discovered an outlet and light switch were in the way.  The trench from Friday was inspected and filled in.

Week 18 - Friday Cabinets!!!!!

Big news!  We got our cabinets in today!  They got most installed in the kitchen.  Others are here but not installed.  They look awesome!  I see the bathroom sinks are here but still in the package, so didn't get a look at them.
They also dug the trench to the septic system and it looks like a war zone.  Sidewalk right in front of the house is dug up and large hole when we walk out the door - so everyone needs to be sober when they come over.

Bad picture but shows the very long, deep trench.

Week 18 - Thursday

The big project today was starting on the septic system.  Dug up near the house to bury some large tanks and will dig and bury the line to the existing septic tomorrow.  Also got the half-wall and column in the living room finished.  And Brian sweet-talked Borrelli's workers to do a side job and put up the metal on the garage so siding can go on - they are done with the house for the most part.  The rest will be done by specialists.  We also made an appointment to pick out our granite this weekend.  We are so close I can taste it!

Lazy day for these two.  Audrey is 11 weeks old today.

Week 18 - Wednesday (the internet lives!)

So today they poured concrete for the sidewalk to the front door and in front of the side door to the garage.  We left our mark in the concrete - hoping we outlast it.  They also put up the ceiling on the back porch, continued putting up trim around windows and doors and framed in the pillar in the living room.

Week 18 - Tuesday

Internet still not working and apparently my work computer won't let me upload pictures.  This is getting annoying.

They did pour the concrete for the garage pad, front and back porches.  And started putting up trim around the windows and doors.  It looks good!  But you'll have to take my word for it :)

Week 18 - Monday

The bricklayer was out Sunday but other than packing up his scafolding, not sure what he did.
Yesterday they put up most of the interior doors, continued grouting, finished around the chimney and prepared the front/back porches and garage pad for concrete, which is being poured today.

The internet wasn't working last night, so I couldn't include pictures.  It's weird since Cropsey is the epicenter of technology.

We unearthed a little kitten hiding in the weeds in the field last night.  It ran into the cornfield before either dog caught wind of it.  I hope she comes back, we need a cat.  We did catch a mouse in the trap couple nights ago.

Week 17 - Friday

Workers didn't leave until 8 o'clock tonight.  Looks like they are finished with the fireplace and maybe the chimney too.  Looks good.  Also grouted and finished the tile in the hall and guest baths.  Electricians did some more work, but hard to tell what they are doing.

Can't wait till we can get rid of that creepy head

Hall bath.  Picture doesn't do it justice.
Audrey survived her first full day at daycare.  It must have worn her out because she's been sleeping ever since I picked her up.

First day at daycare!

Big day for us.  Miss Audrey spent her first (half) day at daycare.  If I had any nails before, they are all gone now.  She did great.  We got swarmed by the other kids when we arrived, they were all so excited to see her (they've been talking her up for months).  And she was all smiles for them.  She wore her shirt that said, "Hi! I'm new here".  I picked her up at lunchtime, couldn't resist.  Her "report card" tells us exactly what she did all day (eat, sleep, poop for now).

Getting dropped off

Tile work continued today and they cut the hole in the roof to start building the chimney up.

Going to be stone above the roof.  It's a little weird.

Molly "damn dog" the pig loves to bath in the dirtiest water she can find.  She literally rolls around in this.

Week 17 - Wednesday

Few more people out today working.  The brick is all up on the house and they started pressure washing it to shine it up.  The inside fireplace stone is all up and looks like they will soon be cutting the hole in the roof  for the chimney.
Tile work continued with tile going up in the hall bath and grouting of the master shower.
The half-wall around the basement stairs is being framed out.
One doorknob is on the back door.

Week 17 - Tuesday

Only work done today was the wood floors are now completely installed.

It's all about Me!

Week 17 - Monday

The brick on the north side of the house was finished over the weekend, just a little bit left on the back of the house and then the fireplace to finish.  Tilework continued today in the guest bath and master shower.  And the garage door was installed.  The garage ceiling got painted this weekend thanks to Dad and Brian.

We re-named Molly to "damn dog".  She discovered that her shock collar wasn't working and met up with us on our walk.  Take two with the working collar and she got shocked but kept on running!  She met our neighbors cow and they were both scared of each other.  Damn dog...

Special thanks to Mom and Dad for coming to stay at our super-awesome house to watch Audrey last week.  Hopefully my next call week will be after we move in.
