Busy weekend

Audrey and I went north to visit the family.  We went to a Halloween party at the country club Saturday night.  Audrey went as a cavewoman, I as a 70's mom.  She enjoyed watching all the kids dancing and then a hayrack ride.
Sunday, we attended the Cropsey-wide get-together.  Ate dinner, met many neighbors, watched the band (yes, a band!) but skipped the hayrack ride as it was time for A to eat.

Brian dressed up as Robocop - rather this is his riot gear, in case the s**t hits the fan.

Molly also came with to visit Mom and Dad.  She got us in trouble for walking in the Forest Preserve, that led to the cop telling me my license plate sticker expired and then she set off the alarm at the house, which sent the police out.  And just to finish the weekend, Victor opened the garage door while we were at our dinner tonight, which set off our alarm!

Another beautiful day

Illinois has the best weather!  Lucky me, today is my half-day for work and it was 80 degrees today.  So Audrey and I spread out a blanket on the grass and enjoyed the sunshine.  (I believe it was warmer here than in North Augusta)

Audrey got a taste of carrots tonight.  She didn't seem too excited.
I did use the steamer and food processor - a first for me!

Brian finished putting the siding up on the garage.  He's more than a pretty face, he's got talent too!  It looks good, just need to get the roof painted and it will look brand new.

A Beautiful Day

We tried to go to the pumpkin farm today but everyone else also had that thought, so we ditched that plan and instead walked around the swanky downtown Normal and took some pictures by the pretty flowers.

Audrey had a good time hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa Taylor last night while Dad was at work and Mom went to a conference.  Thank you guys!

A romantic evening

Tonight upon returning home from a long days work, I was surprised with a home-cooked meal, a glass of wine and a roaring fire- all put on by my wonderful husband.  We love our fireplace.

Daddy and Audrey cuddling by the fire.

These two goofballs jump at the chance to get in the car.  We weren't going anywhere, they just wanted to hang out there.

Happy Baby!

So Audrey seems to be back to her usual self; happy and adorable :)

Audrey and I cuddled in the bed after she woke up at 3:30am

Sweet potato - thumbs up!

Audrey had her first taste of sweet potato tonight.  The best part is the little mishap Brian had while blending the sweet potatoes ;)

It isn't just me who has problems with the blender...

Brian got distracted while thinking of his bff, Chris

Crabby pants

Audrey is going through a phase (I hope) where she is very crabby and absolutely won't let you put her down.  She is still pretty darn cute and I love that she reaches for me when I'm near, but her toys just aren't cutting it anymore.  So Brian and I are getting really good at doing things with one hand.

She's so cute :)  Look at her tears.

Brian has been working on putting siding up on the garage.  One piece at a time (that's all Audrey will tolerate).  It's looking good.

Monday

I threw a perfect game last week while on-call - no babies all week!  Mom did come down on the weekend just in case I did have to go to the hospital.  She stocked our fridge with lots of good food and mended a large stack of clothes.  Thanks Mom!
Cousins Dillon and Grace came to play with Audrey on Sunday.  They made her happy, despite being very crabby all weekend.  Maybe getting teeth?

New food!

Since Audrey is 6 months old now, we are going to expand her food palatte.  We started with a banana tonight.  I blended it and added a little formula to thin it out.  She seemed to like it, but really just likes chewing on the plastic spoon.

Her first bite

Audrey hanging in her bouncer.  She tolerated it for about 5 minutes while I was getting ready in the morning.

Audrey had her 6 month shots on Monday.  Got four shots and one oral vaccine (including the flu shot- have you gotten yours yet?).  She screamed, but calmed down pretty quick afterwards.  Weight is 48% percentile, length 30ish%.  She was hard to measure because she likes pointing her toes.

So ten days ago, Brian got several splinters in his hand while mowing the field.  We got a couple out with just tweezers and he felt another that then seemed to get better, so we left it alone.  Well, his finger has been swelling, turning red and getting painful.  So tonight we decided to dig that thing out.

This is our operating room - the kitchen table.  Audrey was a spectator/student/assistant.
We started with the lidocaine injection and Brian immediately broke out in a cold sweat, felt nauseous and thought he was going to pass out.  So I'm thinking- oh boy, this is going to be fun.  So with a cold compress on his neck and the color of Kermit the Frog, I proceeded to pull out a monster of a splinter and a little bit of puss.

0.5cm in length, was straight in the finger.  This was the coolest splinter I've removed because once the pressure was relieved, it just popped right up.

Free healthcare is just one of the perks of being married to me :)
